Having John teach my son how to swim was one of the best thing I could have done. Last summer, when I first signed Jake up for swim lessons,  I was amazed right from the beginning how well Jake responded to John.  He is an amazing teacher and Jake loved going to his lessons.  Jake was swimming by the third lesson!  I continued to bring him for another set of four to make sure he was totally water safe, plus Jake looked forward to going. John made the whole experience very enjoyable.  This summer we returned for a refresher course, since Jake hadn’t been in a pool for 10 months.  The first lesson was shaky, but by the second one he picked it right back up.  Jake just turned five, and LOVES the water and we owe it all to John.  I look foward to bringing my two year old in a couple of years.

Sean (Finn’s Dad), July 2012

I just wanted to thank you for teaching our son Finn to be a swimmer.
When we first signed Finn up, he was not a swimmer. He loved the pool
and wanted to swim, but had no ability or confidence. After the very
first lesson with John (the very first!), he was able to swim across
the shallow end of the pool. By the second and third lesson, he was
learning to do actual strokes, and by the fourth lesson, was able to
turn over to his back, breathe, and then return to a normal
stroke and continue swimming. I was more impressed by this than Finn,
who by this time, considered it natural.

By the end of our fourth lesson, Finn was swimming, turning over and
swimming on his back, as well as treading water. He was also able to
swim the length of the pool, across the deep end, without stress or
fear. As a parent, I was very amazed and impressed. John’s technique
is very different from what I experienced in group lessons, but it
works so much better. I can’t recommend him highly enough. If you are
serious about teaching your child to swim, contact John.

Monique, July 2012

Thank you so much for the lessons.  Our son’s confidence is so much greater now and we are practicing at least once a week. We will definitely be back for more lessons and have recommended you to several friends who have been impressed with Parker’s swimming skills. I can’t thank you enough. He learned more in 4 days with you than in 6 months of swimming classes at a local swim school!

Rozelen, June 2012

I am 23 years old and did not know how to swim.  My fear of drowning had kept me from learning. Many people throughout my life tried to teach me but all failed. I researched online and came across John’s website. All his students seemed to have nothing but good things to say so I decided to try out the class. I am happy to say that after the first lesson I was swimming! I am not exaggerating when I say, I could not believe how easy swimming was.  John is a great, patient teacher He adapts his teaching to a person’s individual needs. Furthermore, he is very understanding and from the first lesson he made me feel comfortable.  It is a great feeling to finally be able to swim. I really hope that this testimonial will encourage someone to get over his or her fear and contact John to learn how to swim.  This was the best money I ever spent!  Thank you John for being a great teacher

P.S. Thank you for being so patient with me.  I was worse than most kids and yet you were still patient and encouraging. So thank you again! I had a great time learning how to swim (except for back float ha-ha). My family had a barbeque on Sunday where all the cousins, uncles, and aunts gathered – they were all shocked and happy that I can swim now.  My mom even joked that I must’ve had a “miracle worker” as a swimming coach. It is a great feeling to finally be able to swim, thank you again.  I will definitely contact you in the future for more lessons, but for now I will keep practicing.

Melanie, June 2012

After three really bad water experiences, I was on the side-line for many years watching everyone else enjoy themselves in the water.  I signed up for 4 classes with John and by the second class I was doing things I never thought possible.  From the  deep end of the pool, I was able to jump into the water, surface, tread water and swim to the side with confidence.  John is very professional. He quickly corrected my bad habits and taught me new techniques that will allow me to continue I on my own.  I am now able to enjoy all the water sports our city has to offer thanks to John’s classes. I’m  looking forward to a great summer in the water.

Norren, June 2012

At first, I didn’t seriously believe John could teach me to swim in just 4 sessions. Especially since many other instructors had tried but failed.  Knowing I would get my money back if he wasn’t able to teach me, I decided to give him a try. John motivated me and I learned to swim by my 2nd class. Now I can tread water!  I’m planning to see him again next year. For now, I just need to practice more. You guys will enjoy the class – John has a sense of humor.

Alex, May 2012

I had a major water phobia from an early age due to a near drowning at age eight. Finally, decades later, I decided I needed to learn how to swim and enjoy swimming like millions of others. When I found John’s website and learned that he can teach an adult how to swim within a few  private sessions, I was delighted.  I have to admit I signed up with a bit of skepticism mainly not believing anyone could teach me to overcome my fear in such a short time. But, to my surprise, when I met John his professionalism; understanding of my fear; his great personality and patience shined through. For every exercise, John patiently and meticulously described and demonstrated each step. He then watched me repeat it while pointing out all the  things I did wrong and how to correct each: how to breathe,  clear water from my nose, and many other helpful tips that put you at ease with swimming.

I highly recommend John as the number one swimming instructor in my book.  I just wished I had gotten to know him years earlier so I could have enjoyed swimming with my kids growing up. Also If you have kids, its the greatest gift you can give to them: to have a professional teach them at an early age – it must be one of the best joys in life. He teaches people of all ages.

Anatam, September 2011

John, I really enjoyed learning to swim with you. Your teaching techniques were great – I will always remember your instruction.  As a beginner, I was a little embarrassed, scared, and afraid of the water. I still need to practice a lot and I’m still a little uncomfortable in deep water, but I feel much so much more confident than before; and, I can swim now.

Your approach made things easy for me and I didn’t feel so bad about being a 32-year-old non-swimmer. I had a great experience with you that I will never forget. Maybe I will see you again. Thank you very much.

Naresh, September 2011

John, your lessons definitely helped me learn much more than I expected in just four classes. They not only helped me learn swimming, but also to understand my body’s energy in a more subtle way. Most of all, your sense of humor and patience hastened the learning process. I would like to continue with four more classes to master rhythmic breathing  and whatever else you wish to teach. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Mia – Frankie’s mom, September 2011

Hi John, Frankie had an extremely positive experience with you.  I believe the lessons not only taught her  to swim, but also served as a boost to her confidence in general.  We had worked with her before in the pool, but I believe the one on one instruction from a trustworthy, friendly, encouraging and assertive teacher really helped her excel. We will definitely be returning to you for lessons when our son is of age.  You may even see us next season to help Frankie reach the next level in her swimming skills! Thanks again.

Tim, September 2011

Big High FIVE for today’s lesson! As I proceed into my final lesson on Thursday I would like to thank you for all your help. Before I met you, if someone asked me to jump into the deep end … it would be hell NO!!! Today I jumped off the board, came to the top, and swam safely to the side. Cheers to you and thanks so much.

Linn, September 2011

John, thank you for helping my son and I – you are by far the best instructor that I have met. Learning to swim is a life changing experience and you have given me the confidence I need to swim in deep water. Like I have mentioned to you before, I was taking my son to that swim school (MC) for about six months and did not see much progression in his skills. It was a waste of my time and money. If I had known about you, I would have never signed him up for swim lessons there.

You made me very comfortable during the lessons and I really enjoyed learning all the techniques you taught me.  Why can’t there be more instructors like you? I hope you continue teaching for years to come so my other child can benefit from your skills. My son and I will definitely return next summer to get more instruction from you. Again, thank you.

Ron M., August 2011

John, I wanted to tell you how great I feel that Eli (my grandson) can swim! I had watched him struggle and become more fearful in the water each year as he had grown older. It’s hard to believe that you changed that in his first lesson. He went from fear to total anticipation of his next lesson; and, each time he loved it more. Now we can enjoy the pool together without worry; I can’t thank you enough for that. Eli is practicing what he learned and really enjoying the water for the first time in his life.

Erika, July 2011

John is amazing!  My son Madden started with John two months before turning four years old.  Madden started out very interested in learning how to swim and was doing great after his 2nd lesson. He is amazing to watch and I cannot believe how well he swims.  He just loves to be in the water.  He’s jumping off the side, going down our slide, swimming across the pool…it’s amazing…and he just turned four!

We are going back to see John again to work on some techniques to further improve our son’s swimming…mostly because he keeps asking “when do I get to swim with coach John again?”  I never thought he would put his head under water, let alone be jumping off the side doing cannon balls.  John does an amazing job and I would recommend him to anyone. I am thoroughly impressed and grateful.

Tiffany, June 2011

Thank you for Carly’s lessons. I was very impressed with what she learned; and, I felt you were very good with her.  After our trip this next few weeks, I will likely want to do another set of lessons as I feel she got a ton out of it.  Thanks again. You are a wonderful teacher!

Kumud, June 2011

John, we are in MI enjoying time with my family. We have been able to take our 5 year-old son Rohan to the pool for the last two days and because of you he no longer has a fear of jumping into the water and enjoying a swim like other kids his age. Yesterday he was so proud of himself he came home and asked me to call you to tell you what a good job he was doing. It was so important to him that you be proud of him and know that he was working hard to practice what you taught him. We have an adult cousin visiting us from India who does not know how to swim and it was so rewarding to see Rohan trying to teach her how to swim. He sounded like you . . . “keep your head down and get some apples.” He even explained to her why she wouldn’t sink.
We owe you so much – there is no price tag we can put on the confidence you have given our son. Before he came to you he was crippled with fear, but after the first lesson with you his fear had subsided and by the 3rd lesson he was swimming! I honestly did not believe it was possible for anyone to teach my son to swim in such a short amount of time. I was very skeptical. I was truly shocked and still am at what you were able to accomplish with our son in just 4 classes. He went from being afraid to enter the water to  actually swimming a lap. He was even able to jump off the diving board. We thank you for everything you have done for him. Thank you for caring!

Annette, June 2011

I am a 46-year-old woman from NYC. I never learned to swim, could not float on my back, could not tread water and felt the water was so cold my teeth chattered. In high school I tried group-swimming lessons and failed. Water was uncomfortable and scary. I cried if water ever got too deep.  I considered myself a life-long landlubber, end of story.

Then I moved to beautiful San Diego … I wanted to enjoy everything here, including the water. I wanted to be like “everyone else” and swim. Online I found SwimLessonsMadeEasy. John seemed to understand the difficulty an adult non-swimmer faces. I did not want to waste time nor money with some lame group class (been there, done that) and fail again as in high school. So I signed up for 4 classes with John.

Let me tell you, the man is a miracle worker.  I can’t believe it but I can now float on my back, tread water, recover myself and even swim thanks to John. For the first time in my life, being in a pool felt great; it was fun, relaxing and exciting. I love the water!  Who knew?

John led me step by step through the exercises, explaining everything along the way. My fears shrunk and my confidence grew. He made me feel comfortable in the water, from the shallow to the deep end. I was never ashamed with him. He was so patient and taught me so much. He knows so much, corrected me, encouraged me and just made each class a thrill.  I, who was uncoordinated and a ‘fraidy cat’ of water, can now have a blast in a pool, be comfortable in totally deep water and swim a short distance – all this after 4 lessons with John! He is the only way to go if you want to learn how to swim and kill those fears of water. He did it for me. Trust me, money is tight (single mom here) but you will get results and not waste any time or money with SwimLessonsMadeEasy. You will learn how to swim and enjoy the water just like me.

My life is so much better. I am so happy and proud of myself. Finally, finally… after all these years, I can swim! Do it people! Get off your tuckus and do it once and for all. Take these classes with John. You will never regret it.

Scott, June 2011

Hi John – I really appreciate the swimming lessons.  I really can’t thank you enough. When I came into the lessons, I was very afraid and unsure of what to expect.  Being 29 years old and avoiding swimming my whole life, I was worried I was too far behind. Now that I look back at the lessons, your process and the progression of teaching makes perfect sense.  As I stated in my original email, I could not tread water, float much at all, and had a fear of the deep end or deep water and thought my lean factor would keep me from floating like normal. I can honestly say that I am amazed at how much I learned and my fear of the deep water is completely gone.  I hope this can make it on to your website because I was doubtful at first and my fears about lessons proved to be unnecessary.  I know others may be doubtful but I urge them to give it a try. Again, I really can’t thank you enough.

Eve, mother of 4 year-old, May 2011

Hi John,
We are very happy with Ecco’s progress and we’re telling all of our friends how happy we are; thank you!!! We are considering sending her for a second set of lessons, but first we want to swim with her a bit to see how successful she is outside your pool.

Francesca, May 2011

I am 35 years old and have been in the US Navy for the past 13 years. I never took the time to learn how to swim because I was scared. I was born in Ghana and came to the United States when I was 21. Even though Ghana is on the Atlantic side of Africa and has beaches, swimming was not really important to my family.

My fear of deep water arose when in boot camp, I jumped off the 10 foot tower into 12 feet of water and didn’t know how to get to the surface. Two months ago, I realized I have to jump off that 10 foot tower again in officer boot camp.

I did some research online and came across John’s website. I thought if he could get me to swim in 4 lessons then I definitely needed to try it. John made me feel comfortable right away by beginning in the Jacuzzi. I was still nervous, but by the time the first lesson was over, I felt I had learned a lot; and, I was much more comfortable in the water. My biggest lesson that day was when John taught me to get myself to safety without panicking. I realized that I wouldn’t sink if I held my breath.

Well by the 4th day of my lessons, I could swim a lap in his pool and I could do both the front and back float. I even jumped into the deep end of his pool (9 feet), came right up to the surface, and swam to the side.

I really enjoyed my lessons, I am much more comfortable in the water, and I can swim. I did try the free lessons they offer on base but it was definitely not like my experience with John. I will definitely be going back to him for more advanced lessons. So, for people out there who are afraid of the water, there is nothing to be embarrassed about, if I can do it, I know everyone can.

Chris, April 2011

Hi John,

I wanted to thank you for teaching me how to swim. I want anyone who is afraid of water or thinking about learning how to swim to read this. Hopefully, this will inspire them to take that step forward and learn how to swim.

I’m almost 40 years old and have always had a fear of deep water. I was the guy who would never jump in the pool. I hung out on the beach and would not go in the water while all my friends did. I always had some sort of excuse. As I got older it became harder. I felt embarrassed that I couldn’t swim as an adult. I’ve always wanted to learn but didn’t know where to turn.

One of my new year’s resolutions was to overcome my fear and learn how to swim. The trick was finding a good instructor. I saw your site and after trading a few emails and talking to you on the phone I felt confident that you could definitely help me. At first I didn’t think 4 classes would be enough but after 4 classes I can say that you did an amazing job. I would have NEVER thought I could swim; tread water; or not panic in deep water; but, I can and I’m no longer afraid of the water. I learned a lot in four days. You gave me confidence, helped me overcome my fear, and taught me the basics. I’ve never been this enthused about swimming in my life.

If anyone’s skeptical, has doubts, or is afraid – have them call me. Even when I was having problems you adjusted your teaching and used different approaches – something a good  instructor will do. Your pool is very private with no distractions – it’s great. I finished my last class on a Tuesday and that Friday I was in the deep end of a pool in a hotel up in Huntington Beach. No fear. No doubts. No panic. I can’t thank you enough.

Beverly, April 2011

“Hi John: I really want to thank you for your patience with me.  In my original e-mail, I had let you know that I was a non-swimmer in a family of swimmers.  I’m a 49 year-old who finally wanted to get over my fear and learn to swim.  I was pushed in a pool as a kid and had never gotten over my fear of water.  Over the past 4 days you gave me the confidence and taught me the techniques.  For the first time in my life I actually swam. I can’t believe it and I know my family will be shocked to see me get in the water and swim across the pool. After our first lesson, I told you:

“Wow, if I can do this anyone can!”

I truly believe this.  I know I will continue to improve upon the skills that you have given me.  I can’t thank you enough for the past 4 days.”

Carolina, August 2010

“After taking my two boys to group swimming lessons for weeks without seeing results, I decided to search for private lessons.  When I found John’s program, I was intrigued to read in the testimonials that children and adults could be swimming after just four days of lessons.  Despite the fact that I would have to travel from Rancho Penasquitos, I decided to give it a try.  On the fourth day, I saw my eldest son (5 yrs) swim across the pool and also jump from the diving board and swim to the side of the pool with no fear.  My youngest son (3) went from not even wanting to put his face in the water on the first day to learning the basics (he is still not entirely water safe due to his age limitations), but I saw outstanding improvement.  John understands pretty quickly what communication style works for each child and is very results-driven and organized.  I am looking forward to having my children improving their swimming technique with John next summer!”

Guadalupe, August 2010

“Dear John: I wanted to thank you for teaching me how to swim. You are an amazing teacher and I’m impressed that I learned so much in four lessons. I was afraid of swimming after having had bad experiences. I have wanted to take swimming lessons for a while but I always found excuses not to follow through. I recently broke my ankle and it motivated me to do it. I did not want to take group classes because I knew that I wasn’t going to get much attention. I was just going to waste my time and it was going to reinforce my belief that swimming was not for me.

Taking private lessons is the way to go. I’m so glad that I found you on the Internet. You gave me the security to face my fears and you taught me to relax and enjoy myself. I also appreciate your sense of humor, patience and the way you explained everything.”

Tonya – July 2010

“I am so glad we found John’s website this summer. My son had an incident in a friends’ spa where he almost drowned and needless to say, I was desperate for him to learn to swim. Fast! Max is 7 years old and has a form of dwarfism, which makes his limbs shorter than the average child. Despite having lessons in the UK for a year, Max had never learned to float and couldn’t seem to balance in the water.
I contacted John after reading his testimonials, hoping he would help. John explained some breathing exercises to work on with Max prior to his lessons. I hadn’t realized that he had trouble holding his breath for any length of time. Within 20 minutes, he had it mastered and was ready for lessons.

During the first lesson, John taught Max how to float on his stomach with his head in the water… I was amazed! After 4 lessons, Max gained enough confidence to collect items from the bottom of the pool and to swim underwater whilst holding his breath. Max now loves swimming and has been practicing his new skills at the pool. He is so proud of himself.

Thank you so much John for restoring Max’s confidence and giving him the freedom to enjoy the water. I can’t wait to see the progress he makes in the next 4 lessons.”
